Montana Lawler - Secretary
I am an early childhood teacher, working part-time in a long day care centre. I have worked in early childhood education for 15 years for a variety of services around Lake Macquarie and Maitland. I completed a Diploma in Community Services (Children’s Services) before going on to gain my Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching in 2009.
I have been involved with children with autism and their families through my work as a teacher, while also working for a number of years as a casual respite worker for Newcastle Temporary Care.
However, it was in 2014, when my eldest son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, that I really understood how life changing it was to have a child with autism.
I am married with three wonderful sons and am very proud to have been accepted as a member of the board of the Autism-Friendly House Association. I feel there is a real need for purpose built holiday accommodation, catering for children with disabilities as well as their siblings and parents which provides a safe, relaxing and fun break away from home.
